Ooops.. August Quote week!

Darn it I am so sorry guys!
Jen sent me the quote to post and I missed it as I pick up mail on my phone and it doesn't always translate properly!!

Still some hectic days here so I haven't peeked at everyone's 'times changing' posts I asked you for last week.. my house PC is still out of action with the wait on the kitchen reshuffle.. so bear with me.. here's Lynne!

Well here we are at the end of August and it is my week again.
As I write this I still have to blog my nostalgia week for lovely Kathi.
I think having to be indoors and to search for photos rather stops me blogging whilst this lovely weather is here, so sorry that I will be a last minute Charlie this week.

Here is the quote for this week.

“When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and White you photograph their souls” Ted Grant

Edward "Ted" Grant was a South African Trotskyist who spent most of his adult life in Britain. He was a founding member of the Militant tendency and later Socialist Appeal.
BornJuly 9, 1913, Germiston, South Africa
DiedJuly 20, 2006, London

This week I would like you to concentrate on taking photos of people, first in colour and then changing the photo into B&W with your camera setting or using a photo programme if you can.
Show us your results.

If you don’t have a programme on your computer, try downloading free Picasa  http://picasa.download1b.com/. I prefer this to adobe myself, so easy to use.

Have a lovely week snapping people you know and don’t know, get your camera/phone out daily

Love
Lynne xx

Just passing by

Hello everybody,

I don't know if we got badly organized, but I noticed there is no upload for today, so let's get a last minute challenge, that can be replaced anytime by something else !

This week, I propose we take 2 pictures a day. The topic is free, but there are some rules:

Out of the 2 photos each day, one must be black & white and one in color  and one must be of a human (or pet) and the other one must be taken outside.

You can mix as you want.

Take care everybody and have a great Bank Holiday,

Anne xxx

Nostalgia : How things change..

Hi everyone, week 3 again, time for some Nostalgia and I have a confession to make!

In the furore which is my building work and untidiness in our living rooms I have mislaid (no, not lost, just can't find it 'at the moment') the list of my subjects for each month, so we are winging it here..I was going to ask you about a special place or person but i think we have kind of covered that in some of the other months..

I was wondering what jobs people have had and how they have changed over the years?

What jobs did your parents do, maybe jobs which are now defunct or would be done very differently now?  How did jobs affect family life and how you grew up, what it made you want or dream for yourself?

I am sure we all have odd stories to tell..hope so!

I will try and pop in during the week with some extra thoughts, but if you would like to expand on this perhaps you could write a bit each day :

  • your parents' jobs, how life has changed
  • your first job, the mistakes you made!
  • your best job
  • the dream job you wish you had
  • the worst job you ever had

.. and if you feel a little low on inspiration tell us about someone else's amazing job story, share some stories..

happy job hunting!

here's the linkie thing..

Let's reflect challenge : August

Hello everybody,

If everything went to plan, we are currently on holidays,  on our way to pick up our camper van where we will spend a week for the first time with hubby and the girls. I doubt I will find any Internet connection and I probably will have to wait for the week-end to see what you have been up to, but I will do my best.

Isn’t summer lovely? We had sunshine more than we could dream of having, we got some rain to cool off a bit and water our gardens and now we are back to full power hot ( well at least at the time I am preparing this ).

A couple of weeks ago I spent the week-end in Wales to see my father in law and celebrate my brother in law birthday. The week-end was lovely, the kids were with us and played with their cousins. We tried knifes throwing and archery on balloons. It was a “without work” week-end, what is pretty seldom for Dennis and I and it made us realize that sometimes we need to let go and if something is delayed, then so be it.

I chose our word this week, based on that nice experience and the word is :

                            Irrelevant

If you don’t know what it means, here are some synonyms : insignificant – unimportant.

To be happy and enjoy the moment, we sometimes need to let go of what we think we need to do but in fact is totally irrelevant at the current moment and choose to do something else, much more enjoyable.

I would like us to concentrate on the little ( or big ) things that annoy us and come between us and our happiness, the little things that we make so big but are in fact so small and we can forget so quickly.

This week, take a picture of all that you don’t do and leave for later and what you replaced it with.

Show us the dust you can write on, the car that really needs a body wash, the pile of ironing, the jungle developing in your garden . . . and in comparison the relaxing lunch, the playing with the kids, the afternoon spent crafting . . .

Let me be first on the wall of fame (shame). This is what decorates my landing's floor and honestly I really should have ordered the mess this afternoon but instead . . .

. . . I chose to go and visit my friend's new kitten.

Meet Kiki. Isn't she to melt ?

Ah . . . This week let’s be naughty and let’s enjoy it like there's no tomorrow.

What should have you done and what have you done instead ?

Oh and if you would like to have an additional small photo challenge and make it a bit of a game at the same time, I propose you take a picture of something or someone, whose name starts with the same letter as the current day :

M for Monday
T for Tuesday
W for wednesday
T for Thursday
F for Friday
S for Saturday and
S for Sunday

See you then and take care everybody,

Anne xxx

Thursday 8 August 2013

Thursday

Your prompt for today is:

stone

Don't forget to share you view photos if you haven't had chance yet.

Well 'hoist by my own petard' I should never have included time as a prompt as it has clear run away from me. I started back to work with a 3am alarm call, staggering back in at 6pm to get some dinner, hug the kids and go to bed. I had the induction today so all my new staff are on board. So exciting to see them all, of course, north devon being a small place, some of them knew each other so that was good. I opened another store a few years back and we managed to recruit and ex-husband and wife on the same dept and they were very hostile, unfortunately it was the deli department with all the knives. We were a bit worried, but he decided he could not work with her and we found him another position in a different store!

So my apologies for not joining in so far! I am training in a store which is a 4 hour round trip most of this week so not really time for much else!

I have loved seeing all your entries this week so far and I am day off on saturday so will catch up again then =)

Wednesday 7 August 2013

Wednesday

Today's prompt is:

time

I look forward to seeing how you interpret it if you, you know, have time.

Tuesday 6 August 2013

Tuesday

Today's prompt is green.
Please show us what you have been up to today or if you are stuck for a photo then snap something green.

The View Challenge: August

Hello =)

Well done to Kathi for getting so many entries last week, peeking was a great idea!

So, to try and carry on I have adjusted the view challenge.

So please still link up your view challenge if you are still playing along.

I will add in a prompt a day so if you fancy showing us what you are up to then please carry on showing us a peek.

So, please link up your photo of:
a) your view
b) your interpretation of the daily prompt, or,
c) a peek into your day.

So my view this month from the South West Coast Path is a little further afield, nearly at the other end in fact.

I took Ali fossil hunting on Charmouth beach, it was spectacular...
...and we found a few fossils that are 185 million years old which was pretty impressive and as Ali told me the best thing about it was that we could bring them home.
This was the best fossil. Ali found it; he spotted the clues from listening to the talk the expert gave in the centre before we started.
They used their hammer to open the rock for him and there was an ammonite which had crystallised.

A great day out.

So the daily prompts today are either your view or "weather"
